SSH Telnet
Uncover what Telnet is and exactly where it’s used.
SSH, which is an abbreviation for Secure Shell, is a network protocol which is used to exchange encoded data between a client and a server, which makes it impossible for unauthorized parties to intercept any info. Many tech-savvy clients opt for SSH because of the better level of security. The connection is created and the commands are sent through a command line. The available options depend on the type of Internet hosting service - on a shared server, for instance, files may be moved or deleted, databases may be imported and exported, and archives could be set up or unpacked. On a virtual or a dedicated server, the choices are considerably more - the web server and the database server can be started/stopped/rebooted, server-side software can be installed and more. These things aren't possible on a shared server, since full root access is required and all the other clients on that server would be affected. Although SSH is employed largely with UNIX-like Operating Systems, there are SSH clients for other OSs too - Windows, Mac OS, and so on.

SSH Telnet in Shared Hosting
SSH access is offered with all Linux shared hosting we offer you. With some of them, it's featured by default, while with others it is an optional upgrade which you can add with several mouse clicks from your web hosting CP. You can obtain SSH access through the section dedicated to it where you can also find the info that you need to connect - the host, the port number and the username. You may choose the password which you'll use and, if necessary, you shall be able to change it with a few mouse clicks from the same place. All commands that can be used with our shared plans are listed in a help article along with relevant examples. If the SSH access function is permitted for your account, you'll also be able to upload files using your preferred FTP client via an SFTP connection.
- SSH Telnet in Semi-dedicated Servers
If you have a semi-dedicated server account with us, you'll be able to receive SSH access to it with just a click from the corresponding section of the Hepsia hosting CP, which comes with all accounts. If your package does not support this function by default, you shall be able to add it without difficulty via the Upgrades menu. As soon as you go to the SSH section, you'll discover the information that you need to connect to the server through a command line or a desktop app - the server/host, the port number, the username and the password. The latter could be updated anytime, when required. These login credentials are also essential if you would like to upload files via a secure connection and you would like to use SFTP, which is also part of the SSH access service we offer you. A comprehensive list of the commands you can execute shall offer you a better idea of what tasks you may perform in your account and each one is accompanied by a number of instances of the syntax.- SSH Telnet in VPS Servers
All our VPS server packages come with SSH access by default, so you shall not have to add any upgrades or activate anything - the instant the server is set up and you receive its login details, you will be able to connect through its primary IP address and the login credentials which you have chosen through the signup process. Since the VPS accounts include full root-level access, there are no restrictions in terms of the commands that you can run. Your server shall be isolated from the other ones on the physical machine, so you shall be able to manage just about everything via a command line, including server-side software installations and reboots. In this way, you'll be able to work with your files, databases and any apps which you install in a fast and risk-free way. - SSH Telnet in Semi-dedicated Servers
